Practical answers for the FlipLens iPhone app

Start with the topic that matches what you are trying to do. Most issues can be resolved by checking permissions, using the newest sign-in link, or reconnecting the relevant marketplace.

Quick help

Scan an item Camera, photos, and identification Access an account Sign-in links, Apple, Google, and sync Understand a price Estimates, sources, and listing drafts Connect eBay Seller readiness and publishing

Scanning and identifying items

The camera does not open

Open iPhone Settings, find FlipLens, and allow Camera access. If the setting is missing, restart the app and choose Allow when FlipLens asks for camera permission.

The item was identified incorrectly

Use bright, even lighting and a simple background. Add several angles, including labels, model numbers, style codes, distinctive details, and visible flaws. You can submit up to five photos and add a short text hint. Always verify the result—FlipLens suggestions are not authenticity guarantees.

A photo will not upload or analyze

Confirm that the phone has a stable internet connection. Try one clear photo first, then add more angles. Avoid very large screenshots, collages, or images containing unrelated items.

Account and history sync

An email sign-in link does not work

Use the newest FlipLens email, open it on the iPhone with FlipLens installed, and enter the same email address that received the link. Check the spam folder if the message is missing. Older sign-in links can expire after a newer link is requested.

Apple or Google sign-in fails

Confirm that the iPhone is online and that the selected Apple or Google account is available on the device. Close the sign-in sheet and try again. If a guest account already contains scans, sign in from that same FlipLens installation so the app can preserve and merge the history when possible.

Saved scans are missing

Confirm that you are using the same FlipLens account as before. Signed-in history syncs through Firebase; guest history can remain only on the original device until the guest account is upgraded.

Prices, sources, and listing drafts

Why does FlipLens show an estimate instead of a listing?

FlipLens only shows an individual marketplace result when it can validate a current price and source. When durable listing evidence is unavailable, it may show a clearly labelled estimate grounded in current search information instead of inventing an offer.

A price looks wrong or outdated

Marketplace prices, availability, condition, size, currency, and shipping can change quickly. Open the provided source, compare the exact variant and condition, and refresh the scan before making a purchase or listing decision.

Can I edit a generated listing?

Yes. Review and edit the title, description, size, condition, price, and other details before copying or publishing. You are responsible for the final listing and any disclosure required by the marketplace or applicable law.

eBay connection and publishing

How do I connect eBay?

In FlipLens, open Profile, make sure eBay is one of your selected marketplaces, and tap Connect. Complete eBay’s authorization flow, then return to FlipLens so the app can check your seller setup.

FlipLens says my seller setup is incomplete

Your eBay account may need seller registration, payment, shipping, and return policies, plus an enabled inventory location. Complete the missing requirements in eBay, then use Check seller setup from FlipLens’s Profile.

What happens when I disconnect eBay?

FlipLens deletes its stored eBay connection tokens. Existing eBay listings are not changed or removed, so manage any already-published listing directly in eBay.

Data, privacy, and account deletion

You can delete individual scan-history items in FlipLens and disconnect eBay from Profile. Signing out ends the current session but does not by itself delete synced account data. Removing the app may leave data already synced to your account.

To permanently delete your account and associated synced data, open Profile, choose Delete Account, and confirm. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription or remove marketplace listings you already published.
